Rockford police arrest felon with loaded gun, multiple charges filed

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police have arrested a 26-year-old man as part of an initiative to take guns off the streets.

On Saturday, August 2nd, officers with the department’s Specialized Community Oriented Policing Enforcement stopped a vehicle in the area of E. State and 9th Street around 11:50 p.m.

Inside the car, police said a loaded handgun and an ammunition magazine were found.

An occupant of the car, Alontae Murray, 26, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon, and no valid Firearm Owners Identification.

He was booked into the Winnebago County Jail.
