Person shot in parking lot of Lawrence Walmart

LAWRENCE, Ind. — A person was injured in a shooting that occurred in a Walmart parking lot in Lawrence Sunday afternoon.

According to the Lawrence Police Department, officers were called to the Walmart located at 10735 Pendleton Pike around 3:02 p.m. to investigate a shooting.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a male in the parking lot suffering from at least two gunshot wounds. The victim was transported from the scene to a local hospital in stable condition.

LPD indicated that the shooting happened in or around a vehicle was parked a fair distance from the storefront. Police reported that the shooting was not random and may have stemmed from an attempted robbery.

No information has been released about a possible suspect and the investigation remains ongoing.
