Two men arrested for 2024 Arlington shootout

ARLINGTON, Va. (DC News Now) — Nearly a year after two groups of people exchanged gunfire in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, police announced that two more men are facing charges.

Officers arrested Delante Thompson, 28, of Baltimore, Md., and Davon Harris, 28, of Waldorf on July 24 in connection with the Sept. 2, 2024, shooting, in which police say two groups of people exchanged gunfire in the 1200 block of S. Ross St. after an argument ensued.

Arlington police reported that the groups were familiar with each other, and no injuries were reported.

One of the groups fled the scene in a vehicle, while the other group ran from the scene and was detained by officers.

Now, following a comprehensive months-long investigation, authorities charged Thompson with two counts of abduction, two counts of attempted aggravated malicious wounding, two counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding, prevent a call to 911, destruction of property and other related firearms charges.

Harris was charged with two counts of abduction, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of attempted aggravated malicious wounding, two counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated malicious wounding and destruction of property.

Both men were extradited to the Commonwealth and are being held without bond.
