One person killed after late-night shooting near light rail stop in southwest Charlotte: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead after a shooting late Saturday night in southwest Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Shortly before midnight, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon in the 6200 block of South Boulevard. This is right near the CATS’ light rail Archdale station.

When they arrived, they found someone with a gunshot wound. They were taken to a local hospital where they later died, officials said.

It’s unclear what led to the shooting or if anyone is in custody.
