Suspect located in Church Point shooting that left one dead
CHURCH POINT, La. (KLFY) — Police have captured the suspect connected to the July 7 homicide of Jiveston Hebert on N Wilson St in Church Point .
Calvin Scott, 26, of Church Point was arrested and charged with second degree murder, illegal carrying of weapon by convicted felon and illegal discharge of a firearm, police said.

According to police, Scott was located and arrested on Kelly St in Church Point. Calvin was taken into custody without incident.
On July 7, the police were contacted about a gunshot victim at the Acadia St Landry Hospital. Officers learned on arrival that the incident took place on North Wilson St and the victim was transported by personal vehicle following the shooting. The victim Jiveston Antonio Hebert, 38, was pronounced dead due to a single gunshot wound to his upper chest area, police said.

During the investigation it was found that the suspect who allegedly shot the victim was Scott, police reported.
