1 dead after officer-involved shooting in Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. — A person is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Kokomo Saturday morning.

The Kokomo Police Department indicated that its officers received a report of shots fired near University Parks Apartments — which are located in the 2100 block of Lafountain Street — around 7 a.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found the suspect actively firing shots.

Officers returned fire during the incident. KPD confirmed that the suspect died during the shooting.

No KPD officers were injured during the incident. Police do not believe the shooting currently poses any ongoing threat to the general public.
