Hot, breezy, with a critical fire threat through Thursday evening

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) — Happy Wednesday, Utah! Our Wednesday will feature mostly sunny, hazy, and breezy conditions.

A gusty southwest wind Wednesday afternoon will combine with the dry vegetation, very low humidity levels, and warm temperatures to expand the elevated fire danger across parts of northern and eastern Utah. Highs will climb into the mid to upper 90s for the Wasatch Front and 102 for St. George.

A minor surge in potential monsoon moisture will try to bring a few isolated showers to the state for Thursday and Friday afternoon. The overall rain chance will remain pretty low, but isolated showers will be possible especially over southern and eastern Utah and far eastern Utah. Highs will remain in the mid to upper 90s for the Wasatch Front and into the low 100s for southwest Utah.

The end of the week and weekend will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine with highs dipping back into the mid 90s for the Wasatch Front and around 100 for southwest Utah during the afternoon hours. Rain chances will be slim to none for the area through the upcoming weekend.
