Chicago man charged with sexual abuse of Rockford teen
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Deputies arrested Gabriel Populorum, 25, for allegedly grooming and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.

On March 4, deputies received reports from Cherry Valley Police that a man was having inappropriate contact with a minor. The mother of the teen told authorities she had gone missing that day.

The girl was in Chicago with Populorum and had sexual relations with him, according to court records.

Officials reported that the suspect was sending Ubers to bring the 13-year-old to Chicago multiple times and was communicating with her through Snapchat since February 19.

After further investigations and search warrants, Deputies arrested Populorum.

He was booked into the Winnebago County jail on July 31.

He is charged with criminal sexual assault, aggravated criminal sexual assault of a minor, grooming and traveling to meet a minor.
