According to authorities, Freeport Police officers went to a home in the 800 block of N. Brewster Avenue with a search warrant Thursday and arrested 46-year-old Maurice Williams.
Police said a loaded semi-automatic pistol was found inside the home.
Williams was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and an armed habitual criminal.
He was booked into the Stephenson County Jail, pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
