Freeport Police said officers conducted a search warrant Thursday morning in the 600 block of N. Gilmore Avenue.
During the search, a loaded semi-automatic pistol and packaged cannabis were found at the scene, police said.
Authorities took Jakeh Monroe, 29, into custody.
He faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession with intent to deliver cannabis.
He was booked into the Stephenson County Jail, awaiting the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
