Former Magee Mayor Edwin ‘Dale’ Berry dies

MAGEE, Miss. (WJTV) – Former Magee Mayor Edwin “Dale” Berry has died. He was 67.

According to his obituary, Berry died on July 28 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson. Berry decided not to seek re-election in May 2025 due to health reasons. His obituary said at the time of his passing, he was awaiting a heart transplant.

Berry was first elected as mayor in 2017. He previously served as a member of the Board of Aldermen.

Berry is survived by his brother, three children and six grandchildren.

His funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1 at First Baptist Church of Magee. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Magee City Cemetery.
