Granite School District Superintendent Ben Horsley announced the new building, and stadium will debut on Friday, Aug. 8, during Cyprus High School’s Blue and Gold football game.
“We just want to welcome the whole community out to see the new football stadium,” Horsley said.
With the 2025-2026 school year starting in just two weeks on Aug. 13, Horsley invited students and parents to visit the new building for registration, which is now open in the front office of the new building.
While the building will be ready for classes by the beginning of the year, construction has yet to finish on the school.
“There’ll still be a little work going on here or there on some finishing touches,” Horsley said in a social media post Thursday.
The new building broke ground almost four years ago following damage that was done to the school during a 5.7 magnitude earthquake that hit Magna in March 2020. Officials reported an estimated $1 million in damages during the quake.
Cyprus High School was originally built in 1918 and wasn’t rebuilt until 1983.
