Scattered storms are coming with few worries

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Weather worries will remain few in the coming week to ten days.  We will see a few scattered storms starting on Wednesday.  Severe weather is looking doubtful, and the tropics should remain quiet.

Heat worries?  Our main worry during this period will be the heat.  Expect to see heat advisories through at least Thursday as high temperatures will remain near 100 degrees with the heat index surpassing 105.  We should cool down some on Friday and this weekend before the heat returns next week. 

Severe weather worries?  Scattered showers and thunderstorms will return to the ArkLaTex starting on Wednesday afternoon.  This threat of rain will continue into the weekend.  Severe weather is highly unlikely, but a storm or two could produce some strong winds.

Tropical worries?  The National Hurricane Center indicates that we will likely not see any tropical development in the Gulf or Atlantic during the next week.  The EURO model is hinting at an increase in tropical activity in the Atlantic and possibly the Gulf during the second week of August.   

Weather Worry Index for the next 10 days:  2 out of 10: Our only real weather issues during the next week and a half will be the heat and a few strong thunderstorm wind gusts. Consequently,  WWI will remain at 2 out of 10.  Stay cool and keep your fingers crossed that you get some rain.
