Magee Police Chief Denis Borges said officers responded to the Walmart after receiving a call about an assault. When they arrived, officers found that a Walmart employee had been assaulted.
As officers worked to identify the suspect, Borges said dispatch received a call from the suspect’s mother stating she was bringing her son in.
“It’s important to note that no one had contacted her or the suspect she did it on her own. That’s what a parent who holds their child accountable does,” Borges stated.
The suspect, who was identified as Norman Whitlock, was taken into custody and charged.
