I-49 northbound closed near Whiteville exit due to accident

WHITEVILLE, La. (KLFY) — Northbound I-49 is at a standstill due to an accident near Whiteville, on the border of Evangeline and St. Landry parishes, authorities said.

According to the Louisiana Departmenmt of Transportation and Development, all lanes are blocked of northbound I-49 at mile marker 39, just south of the Whiteville Road exit.

Louisiana State Police have confirmed that the accident includes at least one fatality.

A second accident has been reported on the same stretch of I-49, near the rest area near Bayou Boeuf. All lanes are blocked from that incident as well.
