HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — U.S. News & World Report recently debuted a list of the best regional hospitals in the nation, which includes more than two dozen hospitals right here in Pennsylvania.

The 2025-2026 list released by U.S. News & World Report ranked the nation’s best hospitals for offering excellent care in 15 adult specialties, in addition to evaluating their performance in certain surgical procedures and medical conditions.

Among the top-ranked hospitals in Pennsylvania are three Penn State Health hospitals, which include the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Holy Spirit Medical Center, and St. Joseph Medical Center.

“This recognition is a direct reflection of the high-quality care our physicians, nurses and staff deliver every day,” said Dr. Michael Kupferman, chief executive officer at Penn State Health. “In my short time with this organization, I have been deeply impressed by the extraordinary professionalism, compassion and commitment to excellence demonstrated across every level of our health system.”

According to Penn State Health, they also earned national rankings in three specialties, including gastroenterology and GI surgery, orthopedics, and ear, nose, and throat.

Altogether, the report ranked the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center as #1 in the Harrisburg metro region and #6 in Pennsylvania.

In addition to Penn State Health, the Mechanicsburg-based Select Medical also received recognition for several of its inpatient rehabilitation hospitals across the country, including their joint venture at the Penn State Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Hummelstown, Pa.
