Felony charges for man arrested in series of vandalisms in Little Village

CHICAGO — A person of interest in custody in connection with a series of vandalism last weekend in the city’s Little Village neighborhood now faces multiple felony charges, according to an update late Monday afternoon from Chicago police.

Swastikas and the phrase “ICE Rules” were spray-painted on a grocery store and the buildings belonging to two community organizers.

First reported by the Chicago Tribune, a 38-year-old man turned himself in after seeing surveillance images of himself in reports of the crime. Chicago police later announced multiple felony counts against Philip Dominguez of Chicago.

Officers placed Dominguez into their custody on Saturday, July 26, after CPD says he was identified as the offender who defaced multiple properties within the 10th District.

All told, Dominguez faces the following charges:

• Five felony counts – Hate Crime/Property
• One felony count – Criminal Damage to Property $500-10K
• Five misdemeanor counts – Criminal Damage to Property exceeding $500

Dominguez will appear before a Cook County judge on Tuesday.

The investigation remains ongoing by Area Detectives.
