ASL officials said this marks the lottery’s third-highest amount raised for scholarships since 2009, bringing the lottery’s total amount since its founding to more than $1.5 billion.
“We’re proud to complete another successful year of raising funds for student scholarships,” ASL Executive Director Sharon Strong said. “Through the hard work of our lottery team and the support of our players, we’ve been able to contribute to the higher education goals of hundreds of thousands of Arkansans since 2009.”
Officials said the lottery raised more than $129 million for fiscal year 2024 and more than $113 million for 2023 fiscal year.
Funds for several state scholarships are raised through ASL ticket sales, which are later awarded by the Arkansas Department of Higher Education. Scholarships include the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, Arkansas Workforce Challenge Scholarship and ACCESS to Acceleration program.
Arkansas lottery players also won big during the fiscal year with a total of more than $400 million paid out in prizes, ASL officials said. Officials added that out of more than $578 million in sales, more than $32 million was returned in retailer commissions.
