While MPD units were on their way to the scene, they encountered a white SUV that appeared to match the description of the vehicle that was involved in the shooting at 4th and Western Streets.

ISP indicated that, when MPD officers encountered the vehicle, they observed a passenger in the car who was actively firing shots at a pedestrian near the intersection of 1st and D Streets. ISP indicated that the pedestrian the white SUV’s passenger was shooting at the intersection of 1st and D Streets was likely also the target of the shooting that occurred at 4th and Western Streets.

After seeing the white SUV’s passenger firing shots, an MPD officer shot at the vehicle. Once the MPD officer began shooting, the white SUV’s passenger fled the scene on foot.

ISP confirmed that, as of 7:48 p.m., the white SUV’s passenger had not been located by law enforcement.
