Hayward woman claims self-defense in deadly stabbing of boyfriend: PD

(KRON) – A Hayward woman fatally stabbed her boyfriend and declared the act was in self-defense, according to authorities. 

Hayward Police Department officers were called after a man and a woman were having a “loud argument” in an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Depot Road at 8:57 a.m. Saturday. Police were also informed that there were sounds of items being thrown in the apartment.

Arriving officers found a 25-year-old woman in the building’s stairwell. Hayward PD said the woman told officers she stabbed her boyfriend in self-defense after he physically assaulted her.   

The woman, according to police, was cooperative and provided a statement to officers. She was taken to a local hospital. 

In the apartment, police located a 30-year-old man who was unresponsive and suffering from a stab wound. Police rendered aid, and medical personnel responded. However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police said the identities of the woman and the deceased man would not be identified at this time. 

There have not been any arrests in this case.
