Sunday looks to start off calm leading up to the Brickyard 400, but some pesky rain and storm chances will try to return for the afternoon hours. Showers and storms will start to pop and move south as early as 1 p.m. — just a bit before the race is due to begin. The storms’ coverage will peak between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Rain and storms are likely to clear out of the area by sunset.
The high heat will return to start the new work week. High temperatures will return to the low 90s, allowing for Heat Index values as high as 110 degrees through Wednesday. High heat won’t stay too long as a cold front will work through Thursday dropping dew points back to a comfortable level, and even dropping temperatures to the upper 70s to end the week and start next weekend.
