BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly trying to shoot her mother during a heated argument at a Baton Rouge restaurant.

Alexia Hamilton, 26, was arrested by East Baton Rouge Parish deputies and booked on charges of attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon, aggravated criminal damage to property, and simple criminal damage to property.

Deputies responded to Eat ‘N’ Geaux on Airline Highway on July 25 after reports of a shooting. According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, the restaurant owner told deputies she had a phone argument with Hamilton, who was confirmed to be her daughter, over a work-related issue.

Arrest documents said Hamilton became verbally aggressive during the call. Witnesses said that while working after hours, a single bullet shattered a glass window and lodged in a wall. Three adults and two children were inside at the time.

Witness statements indicated Hamilton’s vehicle circled the parking lot before she pulled up near the front door. She allegedly argued with her mother again and said, “Since I’m dead to you, you will be dead to me.”

Deputies said Hamilton also made several threats over the phone to harm herself. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
