A 72-year-old woman was hit and killed in Winona County Thursday morning while crossing Highway 61 after her car crashed into a ditch.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol crash report, around 4:40 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle in the left southbound lane of Highway 61 at Winona County 7.
They say a car was eastbound on Winona County 7, crossed Highway 61, and then crashed in the ditch.
The driver of that car, identified as Lois Irene Davis of Winona, got out of her vehicle and was walking across Highway 61 when she was hit by one vehicle, which stopped, and then hit by another vehicle.
The report says the road was wet at the time of the crash.
