Overnight, the summer muggies return to the area with temperatures in the 70s. This will lead to another quiet start Saturday before storms return to the forecast in the afternoon hours. Once again, storms could have gusty winds and heavy rain. Highs reach near 90 degrees. Outdoor plans will definitely need a “Plan B” option to move things indoors.
A weak disturbance has a low change on turning into a tropical system before moving into Texas later today. It will bring increased rain chances to the Texas and Louisiana coastlines through the next day or so. Elsewhere, the tropics remain quiet for now.
Locally, we will see drier weather Sunday and into the beginning of next week. High pressure sets up overhead leading to lower rain chances and hotter temperatures with many expected to see highs in the mid 90s with feels-like temperatures around 105 degrees. A storm or two may develop in the afternoon hours, but most areas will miss out on the cooling showers and thunderstorms. By the end of the week, rain chances increase again as another disturbance moves along the Louisiana coastline.
