Heat worries? After experiencing cooler temperatures on Friday and Saturday, heat will again become our main concern during the next ten days. Daytime highs will likely approach 100 degrees once again early next week and then ease back into the middle 90s by the end of the week. The heat index will also likely surpass 105 degrees early in the week.
Severe weather worries? Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely develop over parts of the ArkLaTex late this week and again late next week. While we could have some gusty winds at times, severe weather is looking unlikely.
Tropical worries? The National Hurricane Center indicates that the Gulf disturbance has a small window of opportunity to develop into a tropical depression. The chances of development remain at 10%. That window will close this weekend. After that, tropical development is not expected through most of the next few weeks.
Weather Worry Index for the next 10 days: 2 out of 10: While a few storms will be possible on Friday and Saturday, and again late next week, severe weather is looking highly unlikely. Any rain will probably be considered a blessing. Consequently, I will keep today’s WWI at 2 out of 10. Our biggest worry will be health-related issues caused by the combination of heat and humidity during the first half of next week.
