According to the latest update released on Friday, the fire at the bottom of the canyon is expected to become more active and spread to the north. Crews say they have drawn a line along the canyon rim and are expected to use a firing operation to engage the fire.

Fire operations are also planned in Magleby and Monroe Meadows to protect structures. According to officials, as of Thursday, July 25, 4 structures have been destroyed and over 84 homes have been threatened due to the Monroe Fire.
Structure protection continues to be the main focus of the teams on the ground with work underway in Long Flat and Porters areas. In the Bear Valley area, a line is being built in case the fire threatens the area.
Officials say crews are now mopping up near any structures and the blackened edge, where they are searching for and extinguishing any sources of heat.
Officials will be hosting a community meeting on Saturday, July 26, at 7 p.m. at the Sorensen Administration Building on the Snow College Campus at 800 West and 200 South. Fire officials are expected to provide the latest information.
