Filipino bakery selling popular ‘Señorita Bread’ to open first Sonoma County location

(KRON) — A popular Filipino bakery chain is opening its first location in Sonoma County. Starbread is opening in Petaluma at the East Washington Place shopping mall, according to the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce.

Starbread is located at 401 Kenilworth Drive #930, between Pokemoto and Eyebrow Hub. It is unclear when the opening date for the bakery will be.

According to the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce, Starbread is currently under construction.

If you have never had Starbread, perhaps you have seen it at a party (or social media) in a predominantly white box with red and green accents. It only contains few ingredients like sugar, butter and salt — a possible reason its simplicity has led to its popularity.

“Home of the Señorita Bread,” Starbread opened its first location in Vallejo back in 1986 as “QueenLees.” It then changed the name to “Banana-Q” in the 1990s before settling with “Starbread.”

Starbread has grown its fanbase to more than 17,000 followers on its Instagram page.

The bakery has locations has several other locations in the Bay Area: Vallejo, Vacaville and Pacifica. Starbread also has locations in Anaheim, San Diego and Las Vegas.

Starbread joins other Filipino business openings in the Bay Area. Supermarket Seafood City is opening its highly anticipated Daly City location next week.
