Tracking a dry weekend; Heat dome returns next week
COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL)- We have been tracking another round of isolated storms this evening. Some of these have brought heavy rain to some areas around the region.

Friday: The “cooler” weather is still on tap for the end of the work week. Highs will sit in the mid-90s tomorrow afternoon, and we will have a slight breeze to help. Isolated showers and storms are in the forecast again Friday afternoon.

Weekend: High pressure will build this weekend, meaning drier weather. Get ready for sunny skies the whole weekend and warmer weather. Highs will be near 100 degrees Sunday afternoon with heat index readings approaching 105 degrees.

Next Week: The heat dome gets even stronger. Many areas are likely to hit triple digits Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Add in excess humidity, and heat index temps will be near 110 degrees. Isolated showers and storms come back into the forecast next week.

Tropics: The tropics remain quiet this week. We are still monitoring a disorganized area in the Gulf. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued a 10% of development. Regardless of organization, heavy rain is likely along the Gulf Coast.
