One team member said she feels at home with a team.
“It’s an honor to be able to put on shows every week for our community,” said Monica Boneta. “Ski Broncs… is a family.”
The team puts on a seemingly effortless show twice a week nearly all summer long. Boneta said years of practice are why the team can perform at a high level.
“A lot of training. I joined the ski ranks a couple of years ago as an older adult, and it took a lot of practice for me to get where I am today, not only at practices, but only, but also going out on my own time and going behind our own boat and skiing,” Boneta explained.
As nationals inch closer, the team looks to push itself.
“This is a character builder for us too, honestly,” Ski Broncs President Steve Kling said. “I mean, this is where we press ourselves to be a good competition team, and we press ourselves to be a good host team as well.”
The president said the team is fired up to perform after last year’s planned competitions were canceled due to river levels being too high.
“We’re excited about this. Keeping our fingers crossed,” continued Kling.
Kling explained that winning is not the only goal of the team.
“I tell people all the time, thanks for bringing your smiles. It means something to me that people have a smile on their face, and we can help them smile,” Kling concluded.
