Scappoose woman, 20, indicted on child sex crimes turns herself in

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Scappoose woman who is accused of committing multiple child sex crimes turned herself in, authorities said.

Carter Pace, 20, was indicted by a Columbia County grand jury on July 15 for eight counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse. She has since surrendered to the Columbia County Jail, the City of Scappoose announced.

The indictment comes after an investigation carried out by the Scappoose Police Department. An officer with the Internet Crimes Against Children task force received information alleging that Pace had digital child sexual abuse material in her possession.

“Scappoose officers immediately initiated an investigation which resulted in a search warrant being executed at the residence on Oct 17, 2024,” the City of Scappoose said. “Multiple items of evidence were seized during the search. Officers continued their investigation and obtained an additional search warrant authorizing the analysis of digital devices that were seized.”

The result of the investigation was turned over to the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office, which then presented the information to the grand jury, officials said.
