A man accused of fatally stabbing his wife has been ruled incompetent to stand trial, according to new court filings.
Kedu Husen Buseri, 34, had been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 29-year-old Sefiya Churiso Datu. According to documents filed Wednesday, prosecutors will suspend criminal proceedings against Buseri, and he will be referred to the civil commitment process.
However, prosecutors say they intend to prosecute the case when he is “restored to competency.”
Court documents state Buseri called 911 in February, saying “someone died” and “someone killed [his] wife.” When officers arrived at the time, they found Buseri covered in blood with a piece of clothing wrapped around a cut on his left hand. Buseri said the blood was not his and said, “She cut me … I cut her,” a complaint states.

Datu was found lying on the floor and wrapped in a blanket. She was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. There was also an infant in the room; they were unharmed but had blood on their clothes.
Buseri told investigators that he arrived home and saw someone else’s car outside his house and heard another man’s voice. He had suspected the man and his wife were having an affair, according to the complaint.
Buseri said he confronted Datu, and they got into an argument. He said he slapped her, and she grabbed a knife and cut his hand. Buseri then said he grabbed the knife from her and slashed her multiple times. When asked if he had killed his wife, Buseri said, “Yes.”
An autopsy found Datu had suffered stab wounds to her head, face, neck, ear, torso, arms, hands and back, including a 3-inch-deep wound across her jugular vein.
