Semi-truck rolls over after swerving to avoid van, driver dies

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 61-year-old truck driver died on Tuesday after a rollover crash on Hwy 140 in Lake County, according to Oregon State Police.

Officers responded to the scene just after 3:45 p.m. near milepost 1.

Police say a man driving a white Mercedes Sprinter van was traveling east and “entered the intersection with a southbound commercial motor vehicle towing double trailers.”

Nicholas Cardoza, who was operating the truck, swerved to avoid the van, left the roadway and rolled over.

Cardoza was declared dead at the scene.
