Scotty Dyer is wanted in connection to multiple thefts across west Texas over the past week, including recent thefts in Jones, Coleman, and Brown Counties.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office says a truck that was stolen out of Jones County was found on Highway 279 north of Lake Brownwood just before noon, and the driver, Kristi Aleman, was arrested.
Aleman advised that Scotty Dyer was actually the driver, and he had fled the scene.
Around 5:00 p.m., a suspect identified as Dyer took a UTV from Brownwood State Park employees and further evaded arrest. A search that utilized multiple law enforcement agencies, drones, and a helicopter was called off after hours of searching, and Dyer is still on the run.
The Coleman County Sheriff’s Office says Dyer was last seen in Coleman city limits early Thursday morning and is considered armed and dangerous. 9-1-1 should be called if he is spotted, and he should not be approached.
Dyer is described as standing 5’6″ tall and weighing 140 pounds. He has brown and gray hair, a scar above his right eye, and tattoos on his arms, right shoulder, and chest.
“As an added level of prevention and protection, citizens are encouraged to remove the keys, all valuables, and lock the doors of vehicles, businesses, residences, and outbuildings at all times,” the Coleman County Sheriff’s Office explains.
