Search for more victims in alleged campground sex assault investigation in Wisconsin

The Barron County Sheriff’s Office is warning there may be victims of sexual assault related to an Eau Claire County child sexual assault case. 

Robert Karstensen, 82, was charged with 11 counts of child sex crimes in June after five victims detailed abuse to authorities. The victims were between the ages of three and ten years old when the alleged assaults occurred. 

The Barron County Sheriff’s Office says the alleged crimes occurred in the 1990’s and 2000’s.

Karstensen’s neighbor was also charged. 

During the course of the investigation, officials say Karstensen may have victimized additional people through connections at the Chetek River Campground near Chetek, Wisconsin from 1994 to 1998.
