Christopher Esquivel and Kevin Rosette are each charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal use of weapons.
Opelousas Police responded just before 8 p.m. Tuesday to a report of a shooting in the 1700 block of Rodney Milburn Blvd., located in North City Park.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that the suspects involved had fled the scene. Several eyewitnesses provided detailed descriptions of the vehicles involved, officials said.
Officers observed surveillance video in which two individuals engaged in a verbal altercation. Investigators identified them as Esquivel and Rosette.
Investigators said Esquivel brandished a handgun and pointed it at another person but did not discharge the weapon. Shortly after, Rosette was seen retrieving an AR-15 style rifle from another person and firing two shots into the ground. Officers found two spent casings at the location, authorities said.
Esquivel and Rosette were located and arrested without incident, officials said. Bond details were not released.
