Large police presence in east Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) – There is a large police presence in east Topeka on Wednesday.

A 27 News reporter says there is a large police presence as of 1:30 p.m. on July 22 at a scene in the area of Southeast Fifth Street and Lamar Street in east Topeka. He reports that officers were attempting to communicate with people inside a residence in the area.

A City of Topeka spokesman says police are attempting to serve a search warrant in the area.

The scene is still active. The intersection of Fifth Street and California Avenue is currently blocked off.
