Chief Judge Sarah Warner will preside over the ceremony which will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30. Fleming will be introduced by Chief Judge Kurtis Lo of the 11th Judicial District and Chief Judge Dan Creitz of the 31st Judicial District.
Fleming graduated from Washburn University School of Law in 2001 and served as the editor-in-chief of the Washburn Law Journal. Her addition will shift the demographics of the court to nine women and five men.
“I am confident Judge Bolton Fleming will be an exceptional addition to the Kansas Court of Appeals,” Governor Laura Kelly said in March this year. “Her extensive legal career, commitment to public service, and strong reputation will make her an excellent Court of Appeals Judge.”
Fleming currently lives in Pittsburg, Kansas, and serves as chief judge for the 11th Judicial District. Her district includes Cherokee, Labette and Crawford Counties.
