BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana drivers can now get car insurance through General Motors Insurance after it launched in the state.

Gov. Jeff Landry credits the move to the tort reform package recently signed into law.

“General Motors Insurance coming to Louisiana is a testament to the work we accomplished this legislative session to bring about real insurance reform,” Landry said. “Louisiana families deserve more options in this mandated market, and we are incredibly proud to welcome GM to our state. I am confident this is just the beginning of a more consumer friendly insurance market.

According to General Motors Insurance’s website, insurance is now also offered in Arkansas and Colorado. Coverage is offered even to drivers who don’t own a General Motors vehicle.
