Town of Dumfries officials shared on social media around 1 p.m. that the leak had occurred on Main Street. As a result, Batestown Road to Curtis Drive was closed as crews worked on repairs.
As of Tuesday afternoon, all traffic was being rerouted from Main Street.
Currently, it is unknown when the roads will reopen.
“We appreciate your patience and will provide updates as they become available. Stay safe and drive carefully,” wrote officials.
