Crash briefly closed lanes on I-215, one transported to hospital with serious injuries

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Three lanes were closed on southbound I-215 near 450 N or mile point 23, near the Salt Lake City Airport. Traffic saw significant delays.

Traffic has resumed for all lanes, currently. Multiple Utah Highway Patrol vehicles responded to the scene, accompanied by at least one fire vehicle.

According to Lt. Cam Roden with Utah Highway Patrol, a boat trailer caught on fire, causing traffic to back up. Several stopped cars were rear-ended by another car. Four cars were blocking all lanes at around 400 North on I-215 West southbound.

Eight people were involved, and three had to be transported to the hospital. One of those people, a juvenile male, had potentially life-threatening injuries.
