Charges are allegations only. All arrested persons are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — A woman has been charged with assault after fighting with an officer, causing him a broken ankle that requires surgery.

Kassie Diane Marsh, 34, has been charged with disarming a police officer’s energy device, assault by prisoner, possession of a controlled substance, sexual battery, and interfering with a police officer.

According to documents, just before 5 p.m. on July 20, an officer with the Ogden Police Department was dispatched to the Lindquist Mortuary. Representatives stated that Marsh had been loitering on the property.

When the officer arrived, he made contact with Marsh and conducted a records check on the woman. Marsh began walking away, and he told her that “she was not free to leave” and asked her to stop. After Marsh allegedly ignored his orders, he told her she was under arrest.

Following this, documents say Marsh and the officer got “into a physical altercation.” Marsh allegedly grabbed the officer inappropriately to try and stop him. When the officer attempted to use a taser on the woman, she took it and continued physically fighting with him.

Another officer arrived on scene, and Marsh was taken into custody. The officer who had been involved in the altercation said his ankle had “snapped,” and was transported to the hospital. Doctors found that the officer’s ankle was broken and would require surgery.

Marsh was arrested and booked into the Weber County Jail, where she is currently being held without bail. She has an initial appearance in court scheduled for tomorrow.
