Timbers show off largest painted tifo in MLS history at 50th anniversary

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Portland Timbers kicked off their 50th anniversary celebration night on Saturday by making Major Soccer League history.

Just before their match against Minnesota United FC over the weekend, the Timbers Army unveiled a series of art pieces that hung around the stadium with moments from the last 50 years. The panoramic art featured players who were selected by fans to be on the Timbers All-Time XI.

This included stars like Clive Charles, Diego ValeriDiego Chara and Darlington Nagbe. It was nearly a full 360 of art, legendary players, famous sayings, and storytelling that encompass the Timbers’ half-century lifetime.

Across the biggest piece of the tifo were the words, “A future built by those who transcend into legends.”
