Fans of TikTok account “HookedOnHelmets” are stunned to discover a Shreveport high school bears a mascot unique only to them, Snoopy as a World War I flyer in pursuit of the Red Baron.
The TikTok account that documents the story behind football helmets from around the country revealed the abnormal finding to his followers of over 300,000.
According to the school’s webpage, French teacher Gerald McCaffery wrote a letter asking the creator to use the image as a mascot for the campus, then named Jesuit High School.
In a letter dated May 3, 1966, the school was given permission by Charles Schultz himself.
When the school switched to its current name, Loyola College Prep, the mascot remained, officially making them the Loyola Flyers.
An account in association with the school replied in the comments of the buzzing video.
“It’s true! Thanks for sharing our story! We are so proud to be the Flyers and to have the honor of using Snoopy!”
