OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) — Crews responded to a fire in an abandoned building near Monroe Boulevard and 9th Street in Ogden, which prompted road closures.
According to Chief Michael Slater, with the Ogden Fire Department, the fire occurred at an abandoned building, near Monroe Boulevard and Ninth Street.

The Ogden Fire Department noted that, “due to the intense fire, dense smoke, and abandoned building, firefighters went into a defensive strategy”, which included surrounding the building. Fortunately, they were able to keep preventing the fire from spreading and have secured it.
Three juveniles were also seen fleeing from the structure, before firefighters arrived at the scene. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and investigators have not officially determined what caused the fire.
Initial estimates put damages at approximately $700,000 worth. Ogden Police Department are also now working on the investigation and are following up on leads on two suspects.
