BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards expresses his appreciation for Sen. Regina Barrow for securing funding for community initiatives in the parish.
Barrow secured $1,025,000 in state funding to support key public safety and community development in the city-parish. The appropriation will directly support violence prevention, neighborhood outreach and health-focused programming.
“Senator Barrow’s unwavering dedication to Baton Rouge and East Baton Rouge Parish is truly remarkable,” said Edwards. “This $1 million appropriation will significantly benefit our citizens, and we sincerely appreciate her efforts to secure these essential funds.”
The million-dollar appropriation would support projects including:
- $25,000 — Back to School Event: Community Outreach
- $49,900 — Domestic Violence and Mental Health Services (Vee and Cai)
- $50,000 — Community Health Clinic (Dental)
- $50,000 — Community Outreach Events: Prevention and Intervention
- $50,000 — Community Junior Take Over Day
- $60,000 — Educators R Essential: Back to School Event
- $75,000 — Community Development: Glen Oaks Security Dads
- $100,000 — Community Neighborhood Bonding
- $120,000 — Council District Outreach: Districts 1-12
- $445,100 — Office of Violence Prevention
