
CHICAGO — A woman has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly drowning a baby in Lake Michigan Friday night.
Officers responded to the 7000 block of South Shore Drive, near South Shore Beach, at around 9:45 p.m. on the report of a service call.
Surah Amon, 31, was found by authorities in Lake Michigan.
The body of a 1-year-old boy was found shortly after and police allege that Amon drowned him.
She’s been charged with two counts of murder including first-degree.
A source told WGN News that she is related to the boy. The baby has not been identified at this time.
Amon’s detention hearing is scheduled for Monday.
