Authorities say that Jason Roe, 42, of New Orleans, is being charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder, one count of illegal use of weapons, and two counts of armed robbery.
According to an affidavit, Roe followed the victim and robbed them at gunpoint. After refusing to give up the items, he shot the victim in the right knee.
Following the shooting, the New Orleans man took $390 from the victim, as well as a purse worth $350 and several debit and credit cards, an arrest report revealed.
Deputies discovered surveillance cameras from multiple locations and found that Roe was traveling by himself in a dark colored SUV. Surveillance also showed Roe following the victim to a motel from a nearby gas station before the robbery and shooting happened.
Authorities working the case say that they were able to identify Roe using video footage and pictures from a law enforcement database. The victim was able to confirm the identity of Roe in a photo lineup, as he had on the same clothing from the day of the robbery and shooting.
