‘Improvised’ explosive device used to break into ATM at East Bay Target: PD

(KRON) — An “improvised” explosive device was detonated inside of a San Ramon Target on July 20 by an unidentified suspect or suspects to burglarize an ATM, according to the San Ramon Police Department.

“No one was injured due to the explosion, but damage was sustained to a portion of the store’s interior near the eastern public entrance,” San Ramon PD said.

The explosive was set off around 2: 19 a.m. The FBI was called to the scene and is also investigating the crime.

“There is no immediate danger to the community and we are thankful no innocent bystanders were injured,” San Ramon PD said.
