3 teens injured after being struck by an SUV in West Garfield Park crosswalk

CHICAGO — Three teenage girls were hospitalized Sunday evening after being struck by an SUV while crossing the street in Chicago’s West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Chicago police say officers responded at around 7:38 p.m. to the 4800 block of West Jackson Boulevard for a report of a traffic crash involving pedestrians.

According to CPD, a 40-year-old man was driving a white SUV westbound before turning southbound, hitting three female juveniles in a marked crosswalk.

The victims, ages 13, 15 and 16, suffered trauma to their bodies and were taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were all reported to be in fair condition.

Police say the driver remained at the scene. No arrests have been made but citations were issued to the driver. The investigation is ongoing.
