Rockford Police SCOPE officers pulled over a vehicle near Horace Avenue and Elm Street around 11:45 p.m. Sunday night. Police believed the vehicle may have been involved in a reckless discharge of a firearm earlier in the night in the 1800 block of West State Street.
According to officers, a loaded handgun with a laser/light attachment and a second loaded handgun with extended magazine were found. Both weapons were reported stolen out of Louisville, Kentucky.
Giovanny Guillen Gonzalez, 37 of Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen firearm and no valid Firearm Owner’s Identification.
Douglas Vargas Pineda, 25 of Cicero, was charged with reckless discharge, possession of a stolen firearm, and no valid Firearm Owner’s Identification.
Sanson Elijan Decan Rojas, 36 of Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen firearm and no valid Firearm Owner’s Identification.
All three men were booked in to the Winnebago County Jail.
